Department's projects

The initiatives for the young people realized in collaboration with components and operational structures of the National Service of Civil Protection

Campi scuola "Anch'io sono la protezione civile" 2015

Over the years, the Civil Protection Department has launched and implemented a series of projects and initiatives aimed at young people on various risks and issues: from forest fires to earthquakes, from knowledge of the rules of conduct to safety at school.

The projects are also the result of the collaboration of the Department with Institutions, Bodies and Associations and are aimed at the dissemination of the culture of civil protection and knowledge of the risks of the territory

The project - carried out in collaboration with the Regions and national and local voluntary organizations - provides for the organization of school camps for young people aged between 10 and 16 years.  The game is the didactic modality identified to communicate with young people and to encourage among them dynamics of discussion, exchange and growth. Fun and training are therefore the keywords of the school camps, which offer children fun activities, but also a full educational program dedicated to the knowledge of the Civil Protection System and, in particular, of the civil protection plans and the territory.

During the school camps, moreover, the voluntary organizations have the opportunity to bring the youngest to the knowledge of the activities that daily carry out in the service of citizenship.

Among the objectives of the school camps " Anch'io sono la protezione civile" (I am the civil protection too): to encourage the protection of the forest and natural heritage, to contribute to the prevention of risks, to promote the knowledge of the tasks of the National Service, to raise awareness among young people about the importance of civil protection plans.

"I do not take risks school" is an initiative to promote awareness of good practices of civil protection in schools, with particular regard to elementary school children. The project is part of the communication campaign I do not risk, promoted and implemented by the Department of Civil Protection, National Association of Public Assistance, National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Network of University Laboratories of Earthquake Engineering and CIMA Foundation, International Center for Environmental Monitoring.
.
"I do not take risks school" puts the student at the center of the educational process, involving him actively in the process of building knowledge. Classroom activities are carried out by trained volunteers of civil protection, through a teaching kit that combines theoretical insights and laboratory paths for different types of risk.

The guided tours "A scuola di protezione civile" are addressed to students of primary and secondary schools of I and II degree and allow them to see closely the national structure of coordination of the civil protection system, thus deepening the knowledge of the activities of the National Service, both in ordinary and in emergency.

The meetings, lasting one morning, are structured according to the age of the children and include a visit to the Sala Situazione Italia and the Centri Funzionali, the centers of monitoring and forecasting of risks on the national territory.

Since 2005, the month of November marks the annual appointment with the culture of safety at school through activities, demonstrations and events dedicated throughout Italy.

The initiative is promoted by the school sector of Cittadinanzattiva in collaboration with the Department to educate to a conscious management of risks related to the territory and to contribute to the monitoring of the safety of Italian schools.

The itinerant exhibition, set up for the first time in 2007, aims at promoting in the citizens an active role in the knowledge and prevention of seismic risk.

Articulated in four sections (experience, knowledge, memory, prevention), "Earthquakes of Italy" has its focus in two demonstration platforms (Seismic City and Seismic Room) that allow to live the experience of the earthquake firsthand. For children and schools has been organized a specific path, which provides, after the test on the simulator, an explanation of the behaviors to adopt in case of earthquake.
